Monthly Meetings
On the 4th Saturday of every month (except for December) from 1 pm to 4 pm, we meet to do writerly activities together at the Port Macquarie Rotary Club’s Community Centre, 198 Hastings River Drive, Port Macquarie.
We welcome visitors: just get in touch to join us and we can let you know about the next meeting.
At our meetings we discuss writing, hold workshops and presentations on numerous topics to do with writing and publishing, enjoy fun Open Mic sessions, slam write and generally indulge in an afternoon of sharing our common love – the written word. It doesn’t matter where you are in your writing journey – just taking your first steps or already published, or what kind of writing you tend to do – writing poetry, prose, short stories, playwriting, memoir, or genre – romance, crime, young adult, children’s, fantasy, sci-fi or other. Our membership is broad in its style and interests. Just $5 entry fee to cover the cost of afternoon tea.
Coffee and Chat
On the second Wednesday of each month from 10am to 11am we get together more casually for a coffee and chat session at the Sea Acres Rainforest Café, Pacific Drive, Port Macquarie. This is an informal gathering with varied topics of discussion encouraged. Contact us if you would like to come along – we have to advise the Café of numbers so just email and we confirm how many of us will be attending. No charge – just buy your coffee and join us. Visitors are welcome.
Writers Circle
The Writer’s Circle, held on each Monday from 3-5 pm in Study Room 4 at the library, is for Port Writers members and runs from March to October each year. There is space for 6 in the room. This will be our story circle where we can share story progress, explore better ways of storytelling, share our struggles with parts of our stories and more. And we can use this time to write. There is no obligation to turn up each week, but you are required to reserve your seat in the Writer’s Circle. Find the group name Writer’s Circle on WhatsApp to join us.
